How do you layer chokers and necklaces?

Work in lengths. Start with a choker at the throat, add a mid-length chain at the collarbone, then a longer pendant below it. Three tiers is usually the limit before it reads cluttered. Keep the metals consistent and let one pendant be the piece people actually look at.
