Angel motifs, whipped-cream pastels and a haze of soft white. Tenshi kawaii, sometimes called angelcore, is the gentlest corner of Japanese street fashion, built on wings, halos, hearts, clouds and pale pink.

What is tenshi kawaii?

Tenshi means angel. The style emerged from Harajuku as a dreamier offshoot of the wider kawaii movement, trading loud primary colours for cream, baby pink and pale blue, and adding angelic detailing everywhere: feathered wings, star charms, lace trim, tiny bows. Where jirai kei carries a shadow, tenshi kawaii stays deliberately light.

What does an angelcore outfit include?

  • Wing and halo motifs on clips, bags and jewellery
  • Cream, baby pink and pale blue as the base palette
  • Lace trim, ruffles and sheer layering fabrics
  • Heart and star charms, worn stacked
  • Soft knits, bows and anything faintly cloudlike

If you are building a tenshi kawaii wardrobe or looking for angelcore accessories that are not overly childish, start here. Soft, careful, and entirely yours.

Goes well with: pastel goth, coquette pieces, bow hair clips, hair accessories.
